The Rain finally comes, drenching all streets. I had to stay indoor instead of going for a walk in the park behind the swimming pool while Beibei was taking swimming lessons.
There were two youth hockey teams competing in the main rink. They are boys around 12 to 14 years old, some look younger though. I was suprised to find out that the referees are teenagers too. While it should not be a suprise because when Beibei was playing soccer years ago, the referees were all teenagers, even including a 14 year old girl.
When I first moved here, I had no car. A 7 minute drive to the recreation centre could last for 1 hour if going by bus - 2 transfers and a half hour waiting time. It was a nightmare. We stood in the rain and coldness waiting for the bus to come. That was the first winter and coldest winter. So I was thrilled to find out there was a baseball league practising in a school within walking distance. I immediately got Bei enrolled. Baseball is not our family tradition. Bei was not very interested and serious. So when the season was over, it was the end of his baseball business.
Soccer was the second one he tried. It was funny to see him running around the field, hardly getting close to the soccer ball. His soccer coaches were easy going guys, giving no pressure to the kids. The soccer season goes from September to April, just falling in the raining season. It was freezing cold outside and the kids had to play in the rain, with their parents watching while shivering. I like the soccer game. I like the spirit it brings in. Unfortunately, Bei did not want to play more. I always think it with regret. Such a good team game, so much to learn, yet he gave it up.
A good game spoiled.
