Summer again

It was raining hard yesterday. It was cold. Just a few days ago, it was sunny and hot. I only walked under the sun for half hour, but it was long enough to burn blisters on the back of my hands.

What have I done in the past few months?

- Not much. I spent much time watching Billy roaming in his tank. I got a new tank for him. I could no longer bear the sight of the old ugly plastic tank, a betta starter I got from Petcetera. What a change it has made in Billy's life. While he was in the old tank, he stayed at the bottom sleeping all the time, hardly surfacing to get food. Ever since he moved into his new home, he has been actively patrolling his territory. The first few days he glided from bottom to top non-stopping as if to measure the tank. Later on whenever I show up with the food, he dashes to the surface waiting. He can gobble 4 or 5 pallets at one feed. When I had Phil, I never saw bubble nets or Phil stretching his fins wide open. One Saturday morning I found Billy building his bubble net, and marching with his fins upright like a proud peacock. It is said that bettas do so when they are happy. I guess Billy is happy with his new home.

- I also finished much of the gardening for the year. Many plants died in the freezing winter. One of the lavenders struggles to survive. She still not has grown back to her past glory, but she is growing flower buds. I brought home new flowers and plants. My little hens and chicks garden is doing very well. In summer it will be covered with yellow, pink and purple flowers.

Can you imagine the hen that is in this picture was frozen up in winter and blown away by wind? Her baby survived and is now busily multiplying. The tiny little one I picked up from the ground at Gardenworks not only survived winter but has grown 3 times of her original size and has 5 chicks shooting out.

The cursed pot, killed all of the coral bells. So ladies at Gardenworks suggested me to try annuals this year. I bought theses plants for the flowers and leaves. They seem to be fine now. If they perish yet again, I will give up growing anything in it for good.

Pincushion flowers, blooming. Interesting plant. Their flowers are not of same size and color shade. Not all petals open the same time. Some stick out first, others follow. Almost seem every petal has its own mind.

- Books I read? None

- Shows I watched? Plenty.

I learned:

From House -
Marriage is not a charity cause. I would like to add that marriage is not a reformation cause either. If you want to change someone, be a priest, you may have a higher success rate.

From Love is all you need -
Love and beauty are not correlated. Why in Danish films, every eye is so blue?

From the West Wing -
I am blown away by the explosive, fast-paced conversations. They are as entertaining as challenging as they can be. I have grown addicted to the show.
